Instructor George Gibbens

H.G. Hill Camp Counselor

Instructor George Gibbens at Camp.

George Gibbons was one of the experts at camping and outdoor experiences.  In her diary, Elena Harap mentions many of the activities for which Mr. Gibbens was responsible.  As a naturalist, Mr. Gibbens showed students a blue racer snake that had been caught and used the opportunity to teach about poisonous snakes of Tennessee (though the blue racer is not venomous).

Mr. Gibbons was also a master at woodworking and taught students this valuable skill.  Elena also mentions in her diary that Mr. Gibbens would chop down trees to provide firewood for the camp fires.
