The Orchestra
An early, strong interest in instrumental music and performances gave rise to the establishment of The Peabody Demonstration School Orchestra in the 1920s. Early on, the orchestra competed successfully in state-level interscholastic competitions, winning medals for its performances (as seen on the 1941 music letter). In the 1930s, the Dem School orchestra often joined the Peabody College Symphony Orchestra to perform formal concerts and participate in radio broadcasts, such as Teachers College of the Air.
